Dina Joshi —

Can you please introduce yourself?
I am Dina Joshi from India. I am 26 years old.

Where do you live? Do you like where you live?
I live in Mumbai(मुंबई), financial capital of India. I like the city because it's full of life. Many diverse activities and cultures are in Mumbai.

What is your religion?
Hindu. It is the major religion in India and the religion that has derived from India. It's traditions are still remaining at some cities. Caste system, dividing people into different status and limiting their activities according to their caste, still remains, but not as strongly as before, in some countrysides.

What is your caste?
I am Brahman, the highest social rank(caste) in Hindu.

What occupation do people of India mostly have? Why do you think majority have that occupation?
Most people in India are farmers. I say the environment and the climate are the reasons why. It is dominated by three large plains of Ganges, Narmada, and Godavari rivers, which often meet with annual monsoons and flood, makes fertile soils suitable for agriculture.

What is your job? Why did you choose to have your job?
I work as an architect. I chose this job because I love the art of constructing something. That's all.

What do you think about India's politics?
I do not give a lot of attention to politics. I'm indifferent of it.

I heard India is rapidly developing and is growing economically strong. Did your lifestyle change recently due to these developments?
Changes have been always good. I am able to maintain these slow but happy changes.

Do you think other countries have prejudice about India? If yes, what do you think it is?
They think India is a third world nation, where poverty is rampant and it is made of slums. They are wrong. It is one of the most rapidly developing countries, has the highest number of software professionals, so on. We do not live in slums. I believe whole India isn't poor.

What factors make you be proud of India?
I am proud of India because even after everything had gone wrong, we look at the brighter side and overcome those obstacles.
